VP I History/Digital vs Analog

BVP1-1 Students will identify inventions and technical and social developments that led to the creation of radio and television in a broadcast environment.

Describe the growth of communication to include early radio and television, and the development of networks.

Explain recent technological developments and the future of telecommunications.

Explain recent programming developments and the future of telecommunication.

This week students will continue to learn about television history, how the TV works, and the difference between analog and digital television.  Students will be tested over the material on Thursday 1/26/12.  Students will continue to take notes and work on various assignments dealing with the history, how the TV works, and digital vs analog during the week.

VP II Dream/CLOSAT Production

BVP2-1 Students will demonstrate basic planning, writing, directing, and editing of a production. Plan a program using accepted styles of production. Identify staffing needs for a production.

This week students will be working on a Dream Sequence Assignment that will utilize the CLOSAT information discussed in class.  They are to come up with a video that represents a memorable experience or dream that could be considered funny/ dramatic or life learning experience.  This assignment will be due at the end of class on Thursday 1/26.  Students will also need to keep in mind that their first article summary is due on Jan. 31st and will not be accepted after that date.

VP II Camera/iMovie

BVP2-5 Students will perform advanced editing operations.

Use appropriate transitions and effects for production.  Execute split audio/video edits.  Maintain proper continuity throughout production.

This week students will continue to become familiar with our new cameras and begin working in the new iMoive.  They will finish a shooting assignment that they started last week, and will start a new open ended assignment where they will come up with their own ending and will edit that in iMovie as well.  Both assignments will be due at the end of class on Friday.

Welcome to VP I

Welcome to Broadcast Video Production I.  This semester we will cover a variety of entry level information. Students should get a notebook for this class to keep up with their daily work and notes. This week students will bring home a syllabus Download Syllabus fall-spring 2006-2007, this needs to be sign and brought back by Friday.  I'm looking forward to a wonderful semester.

BVP1-11 Students will investigate and demonstrate ethical use of equipment and storytelling through their production.Demonstrate the ability to work as a group member and follow directions.Demonstrate work ethic with in a group. Demonstrate the ability to function as a team member.

Welcome to VP II

Welcome to Broadcast Video Production II.  This semester we will cover a variety of more advanced projects. Students should get a notebook for this class to keep up with their daily work and notes. Students should also make a note of the on the job hours that are a percentage of their overall grade in this advanced level class. I would highly recomend students get thier hours done early in the semester. This week students will bring home a syllabus Download VP II syllabus, this needs to be sign and brought back by Friday.  I'm looking forward to a wonderful semester.

VP I News Media Research

CTAE-FS-10 Career Development. Learner Plans and manages academic-career plans and employment relations.

CTAE-FS-5 Information Technology Applications: Learners use multiple information technology devices to access, organize, process, transmit, and communicate information.

This week students will be working on understanding the news production process.  Students will learn about producing a news package and the various positions needed to produce a news package. During the week students will work on a news media research paper where students will spend class time researching various news outlets for assigned information.  They type this information into a research paper.  Students will also present their findings to the class on their assigned date of either monday or tuesday of next week.  Students will be quizzed over media terms on Thursday 12/15/11 and have a notebook quiz on tuesday 12/13/11 . 

VP I Film Score

BVP 1-4 Students will be able to demonstrate proper set-up and use of basic production equipment.

Demonstrate the use of a computer in broadcast/video production applications.

Demonstrate proper picture composition techniques.

Students will learn about film scores and will work to produce a piece that include student produced music to enhance a one minute video. This will be due at the end of class on Thursday.  Remember all late and missing work must be made up by THIS FRIDAY. DEC. 9th.  At that time all "Z" will be averaged in as 0 and will not be changed.  Also extra credit is due on the 9th as well.  Remember the Cobb County Movie Expo is Monday Dec 5th at 7pm at Kennesaw Mountain High School.  Students can attend for 10 points extra credit on their last test.  They must sign in with me before they leave the film expo and bring a canned good for admission. 

VP I Movie Trailer

All LATE and MISSING work and extra credit must be turned in by Dec. 9, 2011.  All Z's will be turned into 0's on that date and will not be changed.  Students may also attend the Cobb County Movie Expo at Kennesaw Mountain on Monday Dec. 5th at 7pm for 10 points extra credit on a their commercial silent film test.

This week students will work together to produce a movie trailer created by the group this will be due at the end of class on Friday.  Students will plan, shoot and edit this assignment as a group.

VP I Silent Film

BVP1-11 Students will investigate and demonstrate ethical use of equipment and story telling through their production.

The student will formulate reasoned judgment about written and oral communication in various media genres.
Demonstrate ability to give and follow directions
Demonstrate proper use of a computer in broadcast/video production applications
Demonstrate ability to function as a team

This week students will be leaning about and producing a silent film.  Students will take notes and brainstorm and begin working on a script monday and will use tuesday, wednesday, and thursday to shot and edit the project.  This assignment will be due at the end of class on Thursday.  There will be a Commercial/Silent Film Test on Friday.  The last day to complete and turn in any late or missing work will be Friday December 9th.
