VP I News Media Research

CTAE-FS-10 Career Development. Learner Plans and manages academic-career plans and employment relations.

CTAE-FS-5 Information Technology Applications: Learners use multiple information technology devices to access, organize, process, transmit, and communicate information.

This week students will be working on understanding the news production process.  Students will learn about producing a news package and the various positions needed to produce a news package. During the week students will work on a news media research paper where students will spend class time researching various news outlets for assigned information.  They type this information into a research paper.  Students will also present their findings to the class on their assigned date of either monday or tuesday of next week.  Students will be quizzed over media terms on Thursday 5/17/12. 

 

VP I Video Poem Project

BVP 1-4 Students will be able to demonstrate proper set-up and use of basic production equipment.

Demonstrate the use of a computer in broadcast/video production applications.  Demonstrate proper picture composition techniques.

This week will will watch the students film scores.  We will also work on a video poem project, where the group will research and select a poem for the group to create a visual interpretation of a poem.  Groups will be using two new shots(vertigo and dutch tilt) in their video and will also have to create an original score to go with their piece.  This will be do on Friday and groups will also be working on some workbook pages during the week.  Please keep in mind that the last day for all late and missing work will be this Friday.  After that date all Z's become 0's and will not be changed.  This is also the last week for dress for success.  Next week is a make up day for anyone who missed dress for success and would like to replace a 0.

 

VP I Film Score

BVP 1-4 Students will be able to demonstrate proper set-up and use of basic production equipment.

Demonstrate the use of a computer in broadcast/video production applications.  Demonstrate proper picture composition techniques.

Students will learn about film scores and will work to produce a piece that include student produced music to enhance a one minute video. This will be due at the end of class on Thursday.  Remember all late and missing work must be made up by NEXT FRIDAY. May 11th.  At that time all "Z" will be averaged in as 0 and will not be changed.  Also extra credit is due on the 11th as well. 

VP I Movie Trailer

All LATE and MISSING work and extra credit must be turned in by May 11, 2012.  All Z's will be turned into 0's on that date and will not be changed.

This week students will work together to produce a movie trailer created by the group this will be due at the end of class on Friday.  Students will plan, shoot and edit this assignment as a group.

VP I Silent Film

BVP1-11 Students will investigate and demonstrate ethical use of equipment and story telling through their production. The student will formulate reasoned judgment about written and oral communication in various media genres. Demonstrate ability to give and follow directions Demonstrate proper use of a computer in broadcast/video production applications Demonstrate ability to function as a team.

This week students will be leaning about and producing a silent film. Students will take notes and brainstorm and begin working on a script monday and will use tuesday, wednesday, and thursday to shot and edit the project. This assignment will be due at the end of class on Thursday. There will be a Commercial/Silent Film Test on Friday. The last day to complete and turn in any late or missing work will be May 11, 2012.

VP I Commercial

BVP1-8 Students will be able to identify lighting instruments and design a light plot for studio or field production following all safety procedures and utilizing proper television terminology.

Describe types of lighting instruments and lamps.  Identify parts of lighting instruments.  Analyze lighting needs for production

 

BVP1-4 Students will be able to demonstrate proper set-up and use of basic production equipment.

Load, record, and play video/audio equipment.  Demonstrate proper picture composition techniques.  Demonstrate proper camera movement.  Demonstrate proper use of microphones.  Demonstrate basic lighting techniques

Students will then begin to learn about commercial and will be producing two 30 second commercials that will be due at the end of class on Thursday.

VP I Lighting

BVP1-8 Students will be able to identify lighting instruments and design a light plot for studio or field production following all safety procedures and utilizing proper television terminology.

Describe types of lighting instruments and lamps.  Identify parts of lighting instruments.  Analyze lighting needs for production.  Create a lighting plot to scale for a production using proper terminology and symbols.

This week students will be learning about Lighting.  Students will be given a  portion of the chapter that within groups they will prepare a presentation for the class.  Presentations will take place on Tuesday 3/27.  Students will be tested on lighting Friday 3/30.  Throughout the week students will work on various workbook pages, take notes on lighting, watch a video on lighting, and read various lighting articles.

VP I Public Service Announcments/ Lighting

BVP1-11 Students will investigate and demonstrate ethical use of equipment and storytelling through their production.

This week students will complete the Station ID's for Cobb Ed TV.  These will be due at the end of class on Monday.  Students will also learn about Public Service Announcements.  Groups will begin developing and researching a topic and focus for their PSA's and will shoot and edit PSA's to be completed and turned in at the end of class on Wednesday. Students will also learn about Lighting.  Students will be given a  portion of the chapter that within groups they will prepare a presentation for the class.  Presentations will take place on Tuesday 3/27.  Students will be tested on lighting on Wednesday 3/28 .  Throughout the week students will work on various workbook pages, take notes on lighting, watch a video on lighting, and read various lighting articles. They will also have a note book quiz on 3/23.

VP I Audio

BVP1-4 Students will be able to demonstrate proper set-up and use of basic production equipment.

Demonstrate steps necessary to set up, turn on, and operate equipment according to instructor’s directions.  Demonstrate proper use of microphones.  Identify qualities of a technically acceptable audio track.

Students will learn about various audio equipment used in video production.  Students will work to produce a radio commercial and various interviews using the audio equipment.  Students will be quized over audio material on Thursday 3/15.  Students will also work to produce a station ID for Cobb Ed TV which will be due at the end of class on Friday 3/16 

VP I Editing/Audio

BVP 1-9 Students will be able to identify different editing methods, equipment, and techniques and demonstrate them in the production of an editing story.

Identify and contrast analog and digital recording formats.  Distinguish between linear and non-linear editing.  Identify and describe recording and editing devices.  Describe operational parts of a recording device.  Set up and operate recording devices, and perform various editing techniques.  Operate editing equipment to coordinate with a script.

This week students will finish "the crush" which will be due at the end of class on Monday 3/5.  The "pencil thief"  will be started once students are done working on the "the crush" and will be due Thursday.  Students will work on one workbook page assignment. Students will also be learning about Sound effects and audio with the camera.
