Monday 1/23 Types of Sampling & Biased/Unbiased
- Handed back the placement test and quiz. We went over questions about the quiz.
- I also checked the homework. 58% of the class did not attempt any of the hw.
- Students took a daily check over measures of central tendencies. The daily check provided the definitions of the key vocabulary.
- We went over the Spinner Task in class: Download 8 - Spinner Task v2
- Students took notes over the vocabulary of sampling. We went over examples too (see notes). Download 9 - Types of Sampling and biased vs unbiased
- CW workbook p. 380 #1 - 11. We went over these in class.

Tuesday 1/24 Mean Absolute Deviation (m.a.d.)
- Discussed the homework and handed back the daily check.
- Daily check over spinners, expected value, and sampling. Only a few performed well on this.
- Notes on m.a.d. including EOCT type practice questions (done in groups): Download 10 - mean absolute deviation

Wednesday 1/25 Review Unit 1 Chance of Winning
- Checked the homework
- The daily checks from Tuesday were not that good, so I made sure to go over every problem in depth and then handed them back.
- Review WS: students got in to quads (groups) to work on a 10 problem worksheet. We went over the answers in class. Answers: Download 11 - Chance of Winning Review ANSWER KEY

Thursday 1/26 TEST Unit 1 Chance of Winning
- TEST: 33 questions
- The test will have: counting principle, permutations, combinations, independent/dependent events, mutually exclusive/overlapping events, "and" "or", rolling 2 dice (make a table for the outcomes), decks of cards, probability, conditional probabilty, spinners, expected value, range, mean, median, mode, upper quartile, lower quartile, interquartile range, box & whisker graph, types of sampling, biases vs unbiased, and mean absolute deviation

Friday 1/27 Function Notation
- Tests are not graded at this time. Students were given their 6 passes out for the semester. Use them wisely. Once you run out, you will owe me a dentention if you leave. Open House handout was also handed out. Download Open_house_handout_s2012 Emily
