The College Fair will take place on Saturday October 22, 2011from 12pm-3pm at The Cathedral of Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church, located at 492 North Marietta Parkway in Marietta, Georgia. We will have over 50 schools in attendance as well as an entire area devoted to resources for scholarships, summer internships, application assistance, essay writing and other fundamentals on the college planning process.  

They encourage parents to attend so that they may obtain information on the college application process, applying for financial aid, and various scholarship opportunities. Many of the schools have agreed to waive the application fee for those students who will submit onsite applications at the fair.

 

 

Becca's Closet

 

Becca's Closet is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Rebecca Kirtman, a high school student from Florida who believed that every girl should be able to attend formal school events such as Prom and Homecoming despite their financial situation.  Rebecca collected hundreds of gowns on her own and gave them to girls free of charge.  When she was killed in a car accident in 2003 her friends and family carried her legacy nation-wide.  Today, there are over 70 Becca's Closet chapters across the country and abroad collecting gowns and distributing them to girl in need. 

 

At Becca's Closet Atlanta, Becca's Closet school clubs have teamed up with members of the community to operate a store location in Kennesaw conveniently located near I-75 that is open by appointment.  We collect dresses at this location as well as at local schools.  To receive a gown, you must complete an on-line form on this site or email us at beccasclosetatlanta@gmail.com. 

ASVAB Test - Thursday, October 2011

The ASVAB test, offered for free by the military, will be given on Thursday, October 27, 2011.  The ASVAB is a career exploration program that identifies students skills and abilities, provides career exploration information, and helps in identifying a potential Career Path.  Taking this test does not obligate students to the military, and it is free.

 

Please come to the counseling office by Monday, October 24th to sign up.
