COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Book/Toy Drive
NHS is sponsoring a book/toy
drive for Southern Sudan. Collection bins will be placed at the front
of the school and near the auditorium.
Bring any books or toys in good condition from October 13 to November
10.
Tutors:
All NHS students are required to fullfill 2 hours of tutoring at the Tues/Thurs after-school tutoring program in the library or they can sign up to be tutors that the counselors can recommend to parents that are seeking one-on-one tutoring for their students.

(phone, email) and subject(s) you can tutor in or sign up for after-school tutoring at our meetings or on the NHS board in the science and math hall. Don't wait for the last minute to sign-up.
Relay For Life:
Relay for Life is May 11, 2012!
Relay for Life helps to raise money for the American Cancer Society. By joining the team, you can also receive
community service hours. To register: go
to www.cobbrelay.org ( http://www.cobbrelay.org/ )and follow the prompts to
"sign up" and then "join a team." You will need to pay your
$10 registration fee online. We will also have a team shirt that will cost an
additional $10 that you can purchase through Mrs. Allen in room 1211. Once you
join the team, start using the Relay site to send e-mails and/or use Facebook
to spread the word and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in their
fight against cancer!

Kemp
Right now we have two opportunities that the
Hillgrove students can help us with. The first one is a community
event. Echo Mills will host their annual Haunted Trails on October 29th.
They are looking for volunteers to help out. Please contact Margie Rowans
at mrowans@comcast.net if you are interested. The second
event is a school event. Kemp is having a ‘’Thanks for Giving” food
drive. It will run from October 31st until November 14th.
We need students to help us sort , count and basically keep us organized.
I will be the contact person for this event. So please let me know if you
are interested. Also, if there are other Hillgrove organizations that may
be interested in volunteering please pass this information along.
Bert Show Thank you (During Meeting)
Now is your chance to say thank you to our troops! The Bert Show is collecting
letters of thanks so every single soldier stationed or deployed outside the United States
can receive a letter of gratitude on Thanksgiving Day. We want to give
our troops a “Big Thank You” with a little taste of home this Thanksgiving.
