British Literature Blocks 3 & 4

1984  Read Part TWO, Chapters V-VIII

Project:  The first part is to write 1/2 page on one method Big Brother uses to subdue his citizens.  Be sure to state what the method is and how it works.  Write another 1/2 page on something you would use (what and how again) if you were to run your own government.  The second part is to create one of these.  For example, Big Brother has posters all over with his face and the slogan "Big Brother is Watching You". You would make that poster.  It can be done with computer graphics, made on a posterboard, or painted on a sheet or canvas.  You will only make one of the two items discussed in your paper.  It is your choice whether you make a Big Brother item or one from your world.  You will write about 2 and make 1.  Due Friday, May 15.

Buy 1984 by George Orwell!!!

Practice your speeches and make adjustments to your visual aides.  You should bring them in and try them out in your presentation room.  Doing this on Thursday morning (or later) is not acceptable.  Take care of this Monday or Tuesday at the latest.  The more you are prepared the less stress you will feel presentation night.

Finish Life of Pi.  On a sheet of paper, write 10 things that describe you (physically, emotionally, etc.).  Then name 3 or 4 animals that have similar traits to what you listed (it doesn't need to share every single trait, but it should have about 6 or 7).  Choose one animal that you would pick to symbolize you.  Draw and color it, and list 5 traits that you and the animal have in common.

Due April 3 are the following:  Typed Letter to the Judges, Mentor Logs, Thank you note to your mentor (with an unsealed, stamped, addressed envelope), Mentor Evaluation Form (faxed or mailed by your mentor), and Product Verification Form (also to be mailed or faxed by your mentor).
