After part one of the 1st practice AP multiple choice exam, students peer reviewed their letters of intent and preped for the AP lit. terms quiz tomorrrow. Students will reevaluate incorrect responses tomorrow for the 2nd portion of the practice exam.

After completing class discussion of the previous day's essay evaluations, the class focus was on the poems "My Papa's Waltz" and "Those Winter Sundays." Students should have a copy of their letters of intent for peer review. As well, tomorrow there will be a graded practice AP multiple choice exam.

After collecting the summer reading assignments and parent consent forms, the class focus was on the reading, annotation, discussion, and student evaluation of sample AP essays over William Blake's 1789 and 1794 poems "The chimney Sweeper." Reminder that the letters of intent are due this Thursday, with a peer review of letters on Wednesday. As well, there is the Ap lit. terms quiz (1-20) Thursday. Students should have copies of The Ballad of the Sad Cafe and As I Lay Dying asap.

Today's lesson focused on a reading and analysis of examples of the different types of sonnets. Summer reading assignments are due Monday, as well as signed parent consent forms. Students should also be sure to get a copy of The Ballad of the Sad Cafe asap.

After a visit by Mrs. Ford to discuss aspects of the Senior Project concerning mentors, class instruction revolved around the poetry analysis technique TP-CASTT, concentrating on the poems (handout) "Cottontail" and "You."

After reviewing the most commom errors found in student writing, the class was in the writing lab to work on letters of intent, summer reading assignment, and research topic/product approval forms. Letters of intent must be turned in by Sept. 1st. The summer reading assignment is due on the 29th., as well as the signed parent consent form.

After completing evaluations of the previous day's activity, students engaged in a non-linguistic activity over "Dulce et Decorum Est," with a summary discussion and essay outline. Class will be in the writing lab tomorrow to work on letters of intent and summer reading assignment. Students should have research topic/product approval forms in asap.

After completing remaining logo presentations, the class read and discussed Katherine Brush's "Birthday Party," followed by a reading and evaluation of sample student essays. Reminder that the research topic/product approval forms are due this week by Friday, and the summer reading assignment is due on the 29th.

Classopened with a reading critique of a sample essay over "Blackeberry Picking," followed by presentations of logo assignment. Reminder that approval of research topic/product for Senior Product is due next week - the earlier the better. Classes will continue with logo presentations tomorrow, as well as be afforded time to work on summer reading, so bring text/writing to class.

After a brief look and listen to The Lord's Prayer and Caedmon's Hymn in Old English as an enrichment activity, students had a practice AP prompt timed write. Reminder that the logo assignment is due for presentation tomorrow.
