After a discussion over chapters 3 and 4 of APOM, the class, using both graphic novel and their text, read act 2 of Macbeth and completed a during reading study guide. We will review the study guide, watch the film, and complete a final review of act 2 on Wednesday. Students are reminder (3rd and 4th blocks) to bring something warm to wear for our speech practices this week. Also, each student needs to complete the information for boards night on the attachment.

After the unit 3 vocab. quiz (Sadler), students were in the writing lab to work on letters to judges, etc. for Senior Project. Reminder that forms from mentors and hours should be completed and faxed to Mrs. Ford next week. We will have speech practice Tuesday and Friday of next week. Be sure to have the next reading assignment (chapters 3 and 4) of APOM completed by Monday. Hopefully, we can get through acts 2 and 3 of Macbeth next week.

Classes had their first trial run with speeches, and they all did well. Be sure to revise note cards for next week's practices with students from other senior classes. The Sadler unit 3 vocab. quiz has been moved to Friday before we go to the writing lab to work on visuals for the speeches and the letters to the judges.

After a review of vocab. words (unit 3), the period was spent reviewing act 1 of Macbeth. The poetry presentation assessment will be tomorrow, and the assessment/discussion for chapters 3-4 of A Prayer for Owen Meany has been moved to Monday. Classes will have their first speech practice Thursday and be in the computer lab Friday to work on letters to the judges. Be sure to note due dates for mentor product verification and evaluations, etc.

We completed the poetry presentations today, and the bingo review (all but 2nd block), which is attached, contains a majority of the questions students will incounter on the assessment; however, students will still need to review their notes. Be prepared for tomorrow's assessment and discussion over chapters 1 and 2 of A Prayer for Owen Meany.

After collecting student research papers, Mrs. Covin from the media center gave instruction for alternatives to traditional power point presentations for the Senior Project. AS well, students were given some guidelines to follow for their speeches (see attachment). Students will have their first speech practice next Thursday. Research papers not turned in today will lose 10% per day. Those papers not turned in after three days will receive a zero and still must be completed in order to continue with Senior Project.

After reviewing Sadler unit 3 vocab. (1-10), class continued with presentations for Yeats and Thomas. Reminder that research papers are due Wednesday, and chapters 1 and 2 of A Prayer for Owen Meany should be completed by Friday. Tomorrows presentations will be Williams and Shelley.

After the AP terms # 3 quiz, students were given a copy of Irving's responses to student questions over A Prayer for Owen Meany as an introductory activity for the novel. Students are to read chapters 1and 2 by next Friday. This activty was followed by a "Cloze" reading activity. Student presentations for Monday will be Yeats and Thomas. After the AP lit. terms review (#3), classes began the poetry teaching assignment, which will probably move into the first part of next week. The Bluest Eye assessment is Wednesday, and the AP lit. terms quiz will be moved to Wednesday.

After collecting the Bloom ball assignment for As I Lay Dying, the class had an info. search activity as a means to lead into a final discussion over The Bluest Eye. Class concluded with an identification of major themes and a review of the questions/rubric for next Wednesday's final short answer assessment over The Bluest Eye (see attachments). Poetry presentations next week will begin with Robert Browning and Mathew Arnold. The due date for the research paper has been changed to Oct. 19th.
