Sketching Assignment

Any students taking their sketches home for completion over the weekend are reminded that finalized sketches are due at the beginning of class on Monday, January 23rd.

Missing assignments will receive a grade of zero and late assignments will be reduced by 10 points per day for a maximum of three days.  After this three day period, a grade of zero will be entered for this assignment.

 

Finalizing Review

As we complete the review period in the advanced classes and move forward with new material, students are reminded that additional time for questions and project work continue to be available. 

Students are encouraged to set up additional time with Coach Center either before school (7:45-8:15 am) or during their lunch.

Please schedule those sessions with Coach Center directly.

Resume Template

Architecture I Students are to create a Resume to be presented in conjunction with their portfolio at their formal Job Interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10/25-26.  Below is a template for a traditional resume that students are encouraged to use, however, students may use a different style as long as all pertinent information is displayed.

Students are asked to complete this resume as if they have just graduated from the college of their choice, listing accomplishments that they plan to pursue through their college career.  Students are encouraged to take this opportunity seriously and generate a resume that depicts a road map for themselves over the next 5 years.

Final Protfolio Forms

Prior to the start of the Final Portfolio Piece, students MUST gain approval of their chosen object IN WRITING.  Below you will find a template for the Proposal Letter.  Download it to your student folder, fill it out and submit for approval no later than Wednesday, October 26th.

2 Point Perspective of Ranch House

2 Point Perspective of the Ranch House should be completed and submitted for grading no later than Friday, October 21.  Students completing this drawing before that date should submit for suggestions on improving before the due date.  Early submissions may be checked by print or on screen.

 

Survey of Engineering - Final Portfolio Piece

For this assignment, students will select an object containing a minimum of (5) parts.  Students electing to work together will select objects containing 5 parts for each student.  These objects must contain at least (1) Curve to Curve Intersection to be approved.

Once the object is approved, students will be responsible for the following:

• Business Letter requesting approval of item.
  •  Signed by student and teacher.
• Exploded Assembly Sketch
  •  Parts identified by name, number, quantity required and material.
• Detailed Technical Sketches of ALL individual parts.
• Dimensioned Technical Sketches of ALL individual parts.
• CAD Generated, Isometric OR 3 Dimensional Solid Models of each part.
• Exploded Assembly
• Exploded Assembly Section
• Full Assembly
• Full Assembly Section
• Presentation quality prints
  •  Title Block
  •  Dimensions
• PowerPoint Presentation including all items listed above.    5-7 minutes.
• Portfolio including all items listed above.

These CAD files generally get very large.  Due to limited space in student folders, it is recommended that students bring a flash drive or external hard drive to back-up all files.

Revolutions Assignment

Revolutions will be due on Friday, October 21, before the end of the day.

Students will submit (3) Prints.  Each print will displan an object beginning at a 0 Degrees and rotating at 15 Degree intervals through 60 Degrees.

Students will be expected to notate visible changes to the objects that are observed as the rotation angle increases.

 

Resume and Portolio

Architecture I Students should have an updated resume and edited portfolio no later than:

Friday, October 21st.

Students will undergo a formal job interview and must submit their resume and portfolio as part of the interview process.  Once completed, students will be placed in teams that will compete in an Architectural Design Challenge to complete the semester.

Relief Valve Body Drawing (80 or Better)

Students will complete a set of working drawings for a Relief Valve Body.  Included in this set of drawings will be a Top, Front and Right Side View with Hidden Lines and Center Lines, and an Isometric.  Views will be fully dimensioned.

Students will submit completed work for evaluation and revise until there are 20 or fewer errors in the drawing.

Criteria for this assignment is as follows:

  Title: Relief Valve Body                    Scale: 1/2" = 1"   or 1:2

• Freehand Sketch of Top, Front and Right Side Views (Object Lines Only).
• Have sketch checked and obtain signature to move forward.
• Draw Top, Front and Right Side Views (Object Lines Only) to 1/2 Scale.
• Add Hidden and Center Lines to Sketch.
• Have sketch ckecked and obtain 2nd signature to move forward.
• Add Hidden and Center Lines to Drawing.
• Construct an Isometric View at 1/2" Scale
• Remove ALL Construction Lines.
• Add Dimensions to Top, Front and Right Side Views.  There should be 34 total.

When Turning in Drawing, students will also submit their Sketch with (2) signatures and their assignment sheet.  Students having more than 20 errors will revise and resubmit until the goal of 20 or less has been met.  Once met, students will receive computer priveleges and the use of AutoCAD.

BONUS!!!  Students completing this assignment with 20 or fewer errors on their first attempt will receive a 20 point bonus.  In other words, focus on quality from the beginning.
