Badminton
Class will rotate between all the units/sports during the semester. Weather and gym availability will also play a factor in rotation.
Class will do 2-3 warm-up laps on the track to prepare for physical activity.

Differentiation
Students will have option to continue to work on volleying and using forehand/backhand skills the beginning of the unit while using the net or not using the net, while others will start with game play of Badminton.

Differentiation
Students will have option of receiving a pitch underhand or overhand. Also, 4 strikes will be given instead of 3.
Also, pitcher can move close to the batter if improve probability of the hitting contacting the ball.
Skills
*Fielding ground balls – transition from fielding to throwing, eye hand coordination
Catching fly balls- depth perception, transition from fielding to throwing, eye hand coordination
*Hitting- reaction time, eye-hand coordination
*Base running – knowing rules about tagging up, rounding a base, running through first base, other basic strategies/rules
Defensive strategy- going for automatic out, throwing ahead of the runner, run downs, cut off man

Differentiation
Students will have option to continue to work on bumping and setting in the beginning of the unit without having to hit it over the net, while others will start with game play of Volleyball.
During game play, students may be allowed to move closer to the net when serving, if they are having difficulty getting the ball over the net.
Skills
*Bump – arms together, contact made with the wrists
*Set- two hands above head, very little spin, toward a teammate for a spike
*Serve- underhand or overhand, in-bounds
Spike – advanced only

Students will have option to continue to work on shooting and rebounding with 21, gotcha, and three-point shoo-out through out the unit.
Skills
*Passing – push, bounce, chest
*Shooting – lay ups, jump shot, set shot
*Dribbling
Moving to open space
Rebounding
Pivoting
Transition from offense to defense and vice versa

Heading-
Throw-ins – proper technique, both feet touching the ground & both hands on the ball at release, ball goes behind the head
