Flag/Two-hand touch Football
Class will rotate between all the units/sports during the semester. Weather and gym availability will also play a factor in rotation.
- Last 20/30 minutes of class - choices in different sports. (Optional)
Class will do 2-3 warm-up laps on the track to prepare for physical activity.
Standards:

Lesson:
Modified game play or actual game play.
- Discussion of basic rules, tactics, strategies, explanation/demonstration of specific skills needed to successfully participate in a sport/game.
- Rules
- After a touchdown or start of the game, offensive team starts on their own 10 yard line
- 6 downs to reach the end-zone
- If a team fails to reach the end-zone in 6 downs the opposing team takes possession of the ball at the current location
- No point after conversion, each touchdown is 7 points
- 7 Mississippi before rushing the QB
- No QB sneaks, even when QB is rushed
- No offensive/defensive pass interference, penalty will occur
- Flag football specific rules
- Flags must be easily removable and not hidden***
- Cannot slap away opponents hands from flags***
- Two hand touch specific rules
- No pushing or rough two hand touches (result in disciplinary referral)
- Students will be separated into 4 teams of 10 or 11.
- While the students participate in the game/sport, additional individual or small group instruction on specific skills, rules, tactics, strategies as needed depending on level of competence in each of these areas.
- Observation of skills for skills test. (skills for sport/game listed below)
- Students will also develop sportsmanship skills, along with working with teammates during game play
Tournament play will begin for each sport/game*** (4 days of tournament play)(optional or continued game play)
- Students will be re-separated into 4 teams of 10 or 11.
- Continued instruction on skills, rules, tactics, strategies as needed depending on level of competence in each of these areas.
- Continued observation of skills for skills test. (skills for sport/game listed below)
Differentiation
Students will have option to continue to work on throwing and catching the football in the beginning of the unit, while others will start with game play of Flag/Two hand touch Football.
Skills
*Guarding – man to man, zone
Passing/throwing – trajectory, depth perception
*Catching – eye hand coordination
Fleeing/dodging – agility, spinning
*Demonstrate basic competence of the game/sport
Assessment
– Sport/game participation/behavior points. (10 points daily)
– Written test dealing with rules, field/ court markings, strategies, scenarios. (50 points) (Optional)
– Skills tests will be done by continuous teacher observation during actual game play. (50 points)
– It is more practical and valuable than skills tests not imitating game play. To earn all 50 points for each skills test, the student will have to perform the skills for that game/sport with a basic level of competence.

Lesson:

- Discussion of basic rules, tactics, strategies, explanation/demonstration of specific skills needed to successfully participate in a sport/game.
- Rules
- To start of the game, a team must throw it off to the opposing team
- Scoring – offense completes a pass in the opposing team’s endzone.
- After each score, the team that just scored must throw it off
- Team that was just scored on takes in from their own endzone (OPTIONAL)
- Movement of the disc is done by completing a throw between teammates in any direction without dropping it or having it get intercepted by the opposing team.
- Player with the disc has 10 seconds to throw it.
- Change of possession occurs when a pass is not completed (disc is dropped, touches the ground, intercepted, caught/lands out of bounds)
- When a change of possession occurs, the team playing defense immediately becomes the offensive team and takes possession of the disc at that spot.
- No steps can be taken once you have possession of the disc, only pivoting is allowed
- Player must come to a stop as quickly as possible once he/she has caught the Frisbee
- For a touchdown to occur a player must catch the Frisbee with a least one foot in the endzone.
- Touchdown will not be counted if a player moves into the endzone while trying to stop.
- A player cannot knock the disc out of an opponent’s hand
- Offensive and defensive interference will be called as a foul
- When guarding a player that is in possession of the disc, one must be an arm’s length away from the player.

Lesson:
Modified game play or actual game play.
- Discussion of basic rules, tactics, strategies, explanation/demonstration of specific skills needed to successfully participate in a sport/game.
- Rules
- To start of the game in the middle of the field, teams on opposites sides
- Scoring – any ball that goes into the goal in the air or on the ground
- Modified game play – ball must be on the ground, or the ball has to hit a cone, which represents the goal
- After each score, both teams go back to opposites sides, and the team that did not score get the ball
- If the ball goes out of bound along the sidelines, team that last touch the ball loses possession, a throw-in must occur with proper technique.
- A corner kick or goal kick is taken when the ball leaves the field across a goal line
- Goal kick, if the offensive team kicks it out
- Corner kick, if the defensive team kicks it out
- Free kicks – when a penalty occurs for tripping, use of hands, or excessive body check
- Free kick will be taken from where the penalty occurred
- Offsides- he is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent. (in class will not be called)
- No use of hands allowed, except goalie and during throw-ins

Heading-
Throw-ins – proper technique, both feet touching the ground & both hands on the ball at release, ball goes behind the head
